| Although not usually strong in Cancer, Saturn is retrograde in motion, turned from outward action toward inner-directed self-examination. This happens while it is in the sign of the nurturing mother, Cancer. Here, Saturn must face the internal feminine part of himself, a very important condition considering that the Feminine Principle has been so prominent during this current Grand Quintile, five-pointed Star Pentagram sequence that began on October 1st and will last until November 24th. And speaking of the Feminine Principle, Venus, the planet that rules the Earth, is in a very strong position in the 12th house in the sign Libra, one of the two signs that it rules, and so is brimming with positive “Homeward” energy. The square aspect provides Saturn with a gentle, well-intentioned, Divine Feminine prod to its quest for its connection to that which we call “God.”
The other planets each add their specific impulse to Saturn’s drive to reach communion with Wanken Tanka. Jupiter, the planet that represents Wanken Tanka in astrology, sends its expansive qualities and beneficial rays to Saturn via the very creative and transformative aspect called a Quintile. Mars in Scorpio, another planet that is happy in a sign that it rules in this chart, is pressing Saturn through a stimulative square with its transformative Scorpionic energy. The Sun and the Ascendant are conjunct, meaning that they work together in this moment to bring the Sun’s most positive masculine energy and the Ascendant’s intense transformative vision to Saturn’s journey of Self-discovery. They do it over the “open line” of communication of their trine (120°) aspects to Saturn.
Another important consideration here is the Sun’s Sabian Symbol: “Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man.” This is a strong support for the personal energy of the ceremonial leader, and indicates that he or she holds the vision of the “through path” to Saturn’s healing. This aspect of healing is amplified by Chiron’s Sextile to the Sun and, in a repeat performance from last year’s Harmonic Concordance, by the Chiron/Saturn opposition. This is another great opportunity for the healing of this “father and son” relationship that Saturn and Chiron represent. Saturn, being the ultimate planet related to matter has the opportunity in this moment to Cross Chiron’s rainbow bridge between matter and Spirit, and to accept the offer of the Spiritual Healing of their Relationship.
Speaking of relationships, the Earth, usually depicted as being directly opposite to the Sun in a chart, is, in this chart, on the cusp of the 7th house. This is the house that represents “All My Relations.” an indication that the healing of Saturn (remember that Saturn is the planet that most resonates with Mother Earth) is supported by all of Them. And, it is in Taurus, the primary Earth Sign.
Pluto and Uranus are also involved in Saturn’s process through a long-duration Quintile Yod. These slower moving “generational,” outer planets are often referred to as relating to aspects of the higher self. They affect the mass consciousness of whole waves of people. This Quintile Yod brings together the energy of deep transformational change (Pluto) for this “wave” of time, tempered by our “conversation with God” (Uranus), and our focus on the things taken seriously (Saturn). Take together, they bring their combined weight to bear on the main intent of those gathered here this day. By virtue of its Tridecile aspect to the Midheaven Pluto also brings its Truth seeking (Sagittarius) transformative intensity to what we do here publicly (MC). Through this same spiritually creative Tridecile aspect, Neptune also pipes in to impart its humanitarian (Aquarius) Spiritual nature to the planet that represents the Divine Feminine Principle, Venus, which in turn is the planet that rules Earth. All, very positive aspects.
Sandwiched between Jupiter and Neptune in a Minor Grand Trine configuration, Mercury facilitates the communication between our spiritual nature and our concept of God, making the moment one in which spiritual mysteries are more clearly understood.
The Moon in Capricorn in the 2nd house tells us that the moment is ripe for a new expression of our highest ideals and needs, and the truest measure of our deepest values. The North Node in the 6th house in Taurus says that it is the destiny of this Sacred Ceremony to provide a healing service to Mother Earth.
Finally, it is important to remember, in this ceremonial moment, the phrase “As Above, So Below.” For while the planets are indeed “out there,” they are also “in here.” These are the energies that are flowing within us too in this Moment.
Indeed, it is a good day for Ceremony, and we are deeply grateful to Bennie and Jola for bringing this work to our neck of the woods.
